It all starts with art!
At the core of everything in the EC Stewart Collections is art. Simple, elegant and sophisticated, the pen and ink illustrations at the heart of every EC Stewart design are developed with an appreciation for the complexities that life confronts us with every day. They present items from the world around us with a sense of style and luxury all influenced and inspired by calligraphic techniques, colors pallets and traditional patterns from around the world.
For manufacturers and potential licensees, the EC Stewart Collections also offer a new level of flexibility in
application and design. Working directly with the artist, companies can take advantage of the unique talents of Elizabeth Stewart to get the exact design they want for their customers. Starting with the simple line work of the artist, licensees can explore color, texture and image opportunities not afforded them by most other illustrators.
“One of the great advantages of the EC Stewart Collections is the flexibility afforded licensees,” said Stewart.
“Starting with my sophisticated line work the image can evolve in almost any direction from the basis for a hip, on-trend pattern to flat black and white or multidimensional sculpture. This combination of flexibility and trend matching make them perfect for luxury and high-tier manufacturers.“

EC Stewart Collections Introduces Unique Decorative Suede Journals
Marks first time that nationally recognized artist unveils personal luxe journals
November 1, 2007 – Raleigh, North Carolina – EC Stewart Designs, Inc. Nationally recognized artist and illustrator Elizabeth C. (Lisa) Stewart introduces her first line of stationery accessories beginning with diecut journal covers in leather and fabric. Initially featuring Ms. Stewart’s signature calligraphic illustration, Bacchus and the Ball of Yarn, this line brings a new level of sophistication and elegance into the home. Using luxury materials such as leather, suede, and microfiber, these journals epitomize today’s consumer’ desire for sophisticated simplicity in paper goods. Every journal is hand sewn, assembled in the United States and available in 5” x 7” with refillable blank sketch books.
“Over the past several years I have had numerous conversations with enthusiasts who love Bacchus and all are looking for more ways take him with them wherever they go,” Said Ms. Stewart. “With the continued and growing demand for my illustrations as personal accessories, I felt this was a perfect way to expand the ways that people can enjoy my calligraphic illustrations at home or on the go.”
These unique journals feature die-cut images that are then glued and stitched to carefully chosen backing fabric, giving the illustration both texture and color which provide each pillow with it’s own character. By die-cutting the image out of the material, rather than screen printing or appliqué, EC Stewart is providing customers with a piece of functional art that is beautiful, comfortable and will never go out of style.
“When we were developing these journals, we looked at multiple color combinations, materials and construction methods. In the end we settled on what I believe is an almost perfect combination of elegance, luxury and sophistication,” said Stewart. “Looking forward, the design style we have chosen, while being timeless, also allows us to make subtle adjustments to meet constantly changing trends.”
